Born on the day Allen Ginsberg passed away, April 5, 1997, Sam MacPherson pens his own kind of poetry, telling a proud New Jersey story over energetic and utterly alive instrumentation. The 27-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist embraced his calling during college at Sacred Heart University. He initially excelled on the soccer field, shining as a Division 1 player.
However, he also devoted as much time as possible to penning songs on a cheap acoustic guitar. Slowly but surely, he learned how to not only play, but write, produce, and record. Releasing music independently in 2020, he organically caught fire with “Routine,” “Forget I Exist,” “Crash Course,” and the fan favorite “Last Minute.”
The latter not only surged on social media, but it also gathered nearly 120 million streams and counting. Signing to Elektra Records, he served up his Powerlines EP in 2023. OnesToWatch specifically highlighted his “deeply poetic songwriting,” going on to rave, “This EP is true fuel for an ascent to stardom.” Beyond performing alongside Chelsea Cutler, Ruel and The Brook & The Bluff, he packed houses as a headliner. His songwriting isn’t contained to his solo artistry.
